WHO AM I ?

I'm me, I’m not ready to disclose my real name yet but also don't want to pretend I’m someone I’m not by using an alias. The facts are....I was abused by my father from the age of 7 until I was 14. I contacted Childline at several points in my life and found a counselor at the age of 17 to prevent myself from taking my own life. At the age of 19 I found out my younger sister had also been abused and my father was then arrested. He jumped bail and went abroad, untraceable for five years, returning in December 2004 and prosecuted at a Crown Court, where both my sister and I gave evidence in 2005. He was sentenced to nine years and was released after serving half a sentence in 2009. In 2013, he died of cancer. This is my story, my journey and I hope in one way or another it may help others who have been or are being abused. The message is simple - it's never too late to share your story. #nevertoolate
